Graduate Biomedical Innovative Design Team

Adaptive learning through innovative design.

2007-08 Teams

Five teams formed during Fall 07 to pursue their own innovative designs through W08. Teams consist of three to four students and are associated with at least one clinical/technical mentor.

Morphocor

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is a condition in which the heart is unable to supply the body with enough blood. This forces the heart to work harder to produce an adequate blood supply, eventually leading to hypertrophy (enlargement of the heart muscle) and negative remodeling of the heart geometry. We propose developing a device to provide a framework to guide the heart into the anatomical shape of a healthy heart and restrict further hypertrophy.

Neurosensor

Neurosensor is a team dedicated to developing a wearable movement sensor capable of controlling the amount of stimulation applied in the brain through a Deep Brain Stimulation device. Our focus is to better the treatment for patients with Parkinson's Disease. We can give real-time feedback to control the amount of stimulation applied in the brain to specialize treatment for each individual patient. Currently we have developed a prototype which is being used in clinical applications. Our hope in the long term is to make our device available to help all those who have Parkinson Disease.

Fontis Medical

Non-surgical cosmetic dermatology.

Centaur

We will be working developing a more optimal method of attaching and securing the posterior cruciate ligament to the posterior tibia after a PCL tear injury.
