Leadership Conference
The Leadership Conference aims to help AISES student members develop leadership skills and introduces them to a network of corporate mentors and professionals. The conference also prepares the students to become active, knowledgeable leaders for the indian community and to serve as mentors to younger students.
AISES Professional Series
The Professional Series aims to expose Undergraduate students to opportunities availble through the various Professional schools. The series is a excellent chance for students to begin familarizing themselves with the various Graduate Programs at Michigan and their respective Admissions staff. Every Wednesday of March from 5 - 6:30 pm, schools such as the Medical School, School of Public health and Ross Business School will give presentations on what their programs have to offer students as well as how to apply. If you are considering or involved in the application process for the various Professional Schools on campus, this series is a good way to stay ahead of your compeition.
Regional Conference
AISES Region 6 will hold their 2008 Regional Conference at the University of Michigan campus. The Conference will be held from April 11 - 13, 2008 with support from the U of M AISES Chapter. Nearly 25 college chapters from the region will be in attendance, as well as High School Chapters and Tribal Groups from the State of Michigan. In addition to group sessions focused on Professional and Career Development for college students, we will also hold Admissions presentations for high school attendees. To culminate the event, UM AISES has joined forces with the American Indian Family Health Services Center in Detroit for the Cancer Awareness Powwow to be held on April 12 at Ann Arbor's Pioneer High School. The Powwow will be incorporated into the Regional Conference as part of the social event completing the weekend.
Dance for Mother Earth Powwow
On April 5 and 6, 2008, the University of Michigan will host the 36th Annual Dance for Mother Earth Powwow at Crisler Arena. UM AISES Chapter has volunteered to act as the hospitality committee. We will be responsible for providing food, drinks, and hospitality for all Elders, Dancers, and Powwow Planning Committees.
