Description of Rotational Motion

The rotational energy of an object is really the total kinetic energy of its pieces. In the case of the barbell, the pieces are the balls and the rod connecting them (the rod was considered massless and thus did not contribute to the in the example discussed above). We therefore need a way to characterize the velocities of the pieces of an object, and a way to add the of each piece to get the total rotational .
