Health policy incorporates different strategies, regulations, and practices in order to improve the public's health. As medical students and future physicians, our goals for the Health Policy Action Committee are:

* To raise awareness about critical health policy issues among our fellow students
* To engage our communities in health policy discussion and debate from the local to the national levels
* To take direct action in influencing our society's health policies and legislations

In the upcoming year, the Health Policy Action Committee will focus on the following projects:

* Statewide smoking ban in Michigan
* Health care reform debate
* Health Policy and a Pint

The National AMSA the legislative agenda includes:

* Quality, Affordable Health Care for All
* Primary Care Workforce Expansion
* Student Debt Reduction
* Racial and Ethnic Health Care Disparities
* Provider and pharmaceutical industry conflicts of interest
* Reproductive Health
* Global Health Program Funding, Drug Availability, and Health Care Workforce Building
