Officer Descriptions:
President: Organize the fall mass meeting to recruit new members, plan and run monthly exec board meetings, run spring elections, act as a liaison between AMWA and school administration as well as the national organization.
VP: Plan monthly talks about women as medical providers and female medical issues.
Secretary: Take meeting minutes and keep AMWA website and bulletin board up-to-date with latest events.
Treasurer: Apply to
UofM for funding and reimburse members for AMWA-related
expenses.
Admissions: Work as a student admissions interviewer and a contact person
for those interviewing who have questions about women's issues/AMWA here at
UofM.
Book Club: Plan and facilitate montly discussion groups about poetry/short
stories/movies of choice.
C.A.R.E. Representatives: Attend monthly C.A.R.E. (Coalition for Action Regarding Eating Disorders) meetings at University Health Services. Develop and participate in events that promote eating and/or body image disorders in the medical and greater community.
Charity Bash Chairs: Coordinate annual Charity Bash. Often held at a local skating rink or bowling alley. Proceeds donated to a charity which benefits women, does not have to exclusively benefit women.
Community Service chair: Plan monthly community events concerning women's health issues.
Fundraising chair:
Plan and run scrub sale in the fall and apparel sale before winter break.
Domestic Violence (DV) chair: Plan 4-6 speakers and help raise DV
awareness via pins/pamphlet information during October (DV month).
Mentorship chairs: Set
up AMWA members w/ women physicians as well as plan group activities (e.g.,
dinner or lunch) where all mentors/mentees can come
together and share experiences and advice.
Social Chair: Organize various AMWA social events (e.g., bar night,
Halloween/Valentine's parties) throughout the year.
