This text was designed to provide a framework for the instruction of the intellectual and technical methods used in modern research in Biochemistry and Biotechnology.

Each chapter provides extensive background on the principles of the methods, examples of how they are used in research, and experiments designed to illustrate the fundamental principles.
The 25 experiments included in the text have been extensively tested in a laboratory class consisting of college juniors and seniors and beginning graduate students. They have been found to be safe, reliable, and do not require the use of animals, radioactivity, or sophisticated equipment. A list of equipment and reagents necessary to perform the experiments, along with ordering information, is provided at the end of each chapter.

This support page will provide updates for the book, answers to homework problems, information on how to send suggestions to the authors and some links to cool research and educational web sites.
