Islamic Studies (Assistant Professor)

California State University, Sacramento, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the level of assistant professors to begin fall 2014 in Islamic Studies. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with languages of Islamic cultures, and will be able to traverse disciplinary boundaries and connect the study of religion to other cultural aspects.
Preference will be given to candidates with competence in one or more of the following areas: Asian Islamic cultures, ancient Near Eastern cultures, global religions, and gender and religion. Applicants must have a doctorate in hand at the time of appointment.
