Public Domain Software 1992 FROM DEAN GARRAGHTY The Public Domain software listed here has been collected from around the world, and quite a bit of it has been written by me and other users in the UK. The prices shown include the cost of the disk, 1st class postage, protective packaging, and any duplicating costs involved. All disks are for the Atari XL/XE. Please check disk density. Single density will work on any drive, but double density will require a 1050 or equivalent. On double sided disks, the reverse side can be used by turning the disk over, and inserting it "upside down". This does in fact work with the XF551 drive(despite what I've said on earlier issues of this list!!). NOTE: any disks using sampled music/sounds/speech, do not need any special hardware to run. They run under software control. ALL DISKS ARE 2pounds EACH. DISKS MARKED WITH A "*" INDICATE THAT A PRINT-OUT OF THE MANUAL IS AVAILABLE AT 1pound EXTRA. Bulk discounts, and prices to foreign countries are listed at the end of this catalogue. ___________________________________ PD1 - long digital music demos. This disk contains 4 edited sampled music demos. The music was sampled from the actual recording, and has been re-mixed to play up to 1 1/2 mins. This disk is double sided, and single density, and contains: Star Trekin' and Equinox, as well as two mixed demos. Also included is the 'phone demo. Here a telephone rings 5 times, and then a droopy voice says:"It's for you-oo!". PD2 - the Programmer's Speech Tool (P.S.T). This disk contains 14 speech samples that can be used in your own BASIC programs. The disk contains extensive documentation, all the samples (E.g. "great score!", "hello"),runner software, and a demo of its use. This is a single sided, single density disk. PD3 - the music machine. This is the P.D. forerunner of D.M.S. It is very simple, but allows you to use the 19 digitized sounds supplied to be played using the keyboard or joystick, and also has a very simple editor for creating runable BASIC code. The disk may be a good introduction to digitized sounds, but D.M.S is recommended for more serious work. This disk is single sided, and double density. PD4 - the "this and that" disk. This disk contains something for everyone. It contains some graphics demos, an adventure, a maze game, 2 new versions of DOS (compatable with 2.x), a share buying simulation, a sound fx program in Turbo-BASIC (Turbo required to run this program), some music, and a demo created with D.M.S (not required to run this program). This disk is single sided and single density. PD5 - Dean's Desktop System (DDS). This is a simple (very!) operating environment. It is based around a main section, and has a calculator, real-time clock, a diary, a simple database, and its own DOS. This disk is single sided, and single density. This disk was shareware, but is now P.D. PD6 - long digital music demos #2. Another disk similar to PD1, but with new music. This is a single density, double sided disk, and contains: Relax, The Bill, Don't look back, and 720. PD7 (*) - D.S.I.L. Another program for using digitized sounds to create music. It is more advanced than PD3, and is a language based version. It contains the language(only a few commands!), a compiler to turn tunes into BASIC, and a keyboard player. It also contains samples, and demo tunes, as well as an on-disk user guide. This was originally a commercial program, but now is in the P.D. It comes on a DS/DD disk. Loads of koala format pictures are included, including many from commercial games, and also a few fonts. SS/DD disk. PD11 - APAC (Any Point Any Colour) demo disk. Loads full colour, full shade pictures (up to 256 colours on screen at any time). Includes loads of pictures. Note: some pictures not suitable for viewing by children. DS/SD disk. PD12 - Music&graphics demo disk. Contains a few great graphics and music demos in machine code. Loader included. Note: some demos not suitable for viewing by children. DS/SD disk. This DOS was developed by Atari for use with DS drives. It is now PD. It has all the docs. on the disk. DOS 2 disks will need converting to DOS 4 format (convertor on disk) before use. It is, in fact, a shareware program, and invites you to make a donation to your local group/club. Side B contains the "bouncing ball demo", by Bob Armour. This is a superb demo, and really shows what an Atari can do! This is a DS/SD disk. PD32 - DAISY DOT III. This is a new updated version of II, and is SUPERB. This version can be customized at the press of a key to work with: Epson, Star SG/10X, C. Itoh, Mannesmann-Tally 9-pin graphics printers, and even the trusty old Atari XMM801! This disk contains the print program, a font editor and customizer, all docs. and 9 fonts. Quite simply, if you have one of the printers listed, then you NEED this disk. This version is the shareware version. A full version with even more features is offered from the author for $25. This is a DS/SD disk. PD33 - Antic AMP demo. SS/SD disk. The manual for this disk is very long, and so a print-out will have to be 1.50. PD37 - Utilities 3. This is a disk full of utils. for the 1020 plotter. I don't own one of these, so I can't say what they all do, but there are lots of them! DS/DD disk. PD38 - Digitized graphics #4. Another disk full of digitized graphics. This disk takes a slightly different format to the others, because this one was written by a user here in the UK. They could be printed out using the loader on the other 3 disks. A doc. file is included, but note this disk is by no means intended for novices, and you will need a fair knowledge to be able to use this disk. SS/SD disk. THERE NOW FOLLOWS A LARGE SELECTION OF GAMES DISKS, WHICH ALL TAKE THE SAME FORMAT. THEY ALL HAVE A MENU ON THE DISK, BUT HAVE NO INSTRUCTIONS, EXCEPT WHERE SUPPLIED IN THE PROGRAM. MOST OF THE GAMES ARE WRITTEN IN BASIC, BUT SOME ARE IN M/C. NOT ALL ARE ARCADE. SOME ARE ADVENTURES, AND SOME ARE MIND GAMES. ALL ARE DOUBLE SIDED, AND SINGLE DENSITY. THERE MAY BE SOME GAMES WHICH APPEAR ON MORE THAN ONE DISK, AND SOME GAMES MAY BE ON PAGE 6 DISKS. I APOLOGISE FOR THIS, BUT IT IS VERY TIME-CONSUMING TO TRY AND TAKE THESE OFF. SOME GAMES MAY REQUIRE A TRANSLATOR TO RUN. SOME DISKS APPEAR TO HAVE FAR MORE GAMES ON THAN OTHERS. THIS IS BECAUSE SOME GAMES TAKE UP MORE SPACE THAN OTHERS. PD43 - Games 4.
