I was born in Troy Michigan and have lived there my whole life. I graduated from Troy Athens and decided to pursue a nursing degree at UDM because of their reputation for having a great nursing program. I love to play my guitar and piano, workout, and travel. I enjoy the winter because I can go skiing, and snowshoeing.
I always wanted to join the ARMY, but I knew that I wanted a college education. My freshman year at UDM several commissioned officers came to my class, and gave a presentation about ROTC and the benefits of a career in the ARMY. After that presentation I knew that ROTC was the way to go. I realized that there is a critical shortage of nurses in the ARMY, and they are in desperate need of them. Since contracting I have learned more about myself, and what it takes to be a leader.
I have done so many awesome things since I joined ROTC. As a nursing student you spend a lot of time studying, and doing clinicals. Even though ROTC is still school it has been a great break from nursing school. I have repelled off buildings, flown in helicopters, slept in the woods, and shot 9mm pistols, and M-16s. The scholarship is incredible, and has helped me out so much. There is a sense of pride and responsibility that you get when you put on that uniform for class and lab. I want to be the best student nurse possible, and I found out how I can do that. ROTC gives you that drive to be strong, emotionally, and physically.
