Baja SAE UCF - Ocala, FL, April 12-15

The first competition was held by the University of Central Florida at the Hard Rock MX Park in Ocala, FL. We came to competition with a lot of work still to do, but managed to get through tech reasonably early. We made it through most of the dynamic events cleanly except for a DNF in water maneuverability due our engine stalling. Unfortunately, we didn't figure out what the problem was, and it plagued "Lightening" through the endurance race. After a tough 3 days, we managed 12th place overall.

Baja SDSM&T - Rapid City, SD, May 24-27

We brought the 2006 car, "Thunder," along with "Lightening" to South Dakota to make some sort of joke that nobody would get. The treacherous endurance course led to a total of seven rollovers between the two cars. But, when we were on all four wheels, we tore it up, placing high in multiple dynamic events and finishing the competition in 9th place overall.

Baja SAE RIT - Palmyra, NY, June 7-10

With both cars sorted out, we showed up to RIT prepared. We spent most of the static events days relaxing, and with Palmyra being a familiar venue for some of us, dynamic events went very smoothly, with good results for both cars. The endurance race was a ton of fun, putting durability to the test with jumps galore. "Thunder" and "Lightening" both made it through with no major breakage. The highlight of the race was "Lightening" crossing the finish line in 13th with its gearbox on its last legs and promptly running out of gas.
