Resume Writing Workshop

On September 28, 1999 we held our first resume writing workshop. BBA II Amy Finkel shared her summer internship experience with members. Amy spent her summer at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Chicago on an accounting internship.

We broke up into small groups to discuss characteristics of a "good resume." Some of the suggetsions given by BBA II's:

• Always use active language, never passive

• Use a minimum of 3 bullet points per job experience

• Companies like to see percentages and numbers

• Even non-business related job experience is relevant. Bartending could improve social skills!

• Companies like to see dedication. If you've been lifeguarding every summer since high school, share it!

• If your GPA is above 3.2, post it (If it's not, you'll probably be asked about your GPA during the interview).
