Paying for Your Benefits

Your Cost: Faculty or Staff on LOA, RIF, or FMLA
During most leaves and during RIF, you pay the full cost of your medical insurance, dental, and prescription drug coverage. Your cost for these plans is subject to change, even if you do not change any of your plan choices. See Monthly Costs During LOA/RIF/FMLA for medical, dental, and vision plan rates.

If you continue to pay the cost of your Group Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability contributions, you will continue to receive University contributions toward these benefits.

How To Pay
To pay for your benefits, make your check or money order payable to "University of Michigan" and mail it with your payment coupon to the following address:

University of Michigan – Payroll
Box 223081
Pittsburgh, PA 15251-2081

Please write your UMID (if known) or U.S. Social Security number on your check.

Full premiums are due on the first of each month for that month's coverage (i.e., the premium for the coverage period of June 1st through June 30th is due on June 1st.) Any late or partial payments will be processed and refunded.
