If
you and your spouse or other qualified adult are both
employed by the University, when you enroll in benefits, keep
in mind:
- No
employee or dependent can be covered more than once. For
example, you can have your own medical insurance (or other
benefit coverage) or be listed as a dependent on your
spouse's or other qualified adult's coverage, but
not on both.
- You
can select a different medical insurance (or dental or
other benefit coverage) option and you may add your dependents
to either coverage, but not to both.
- Each
parent can enroll in a different medical insurance (or
dental or other benefit coverage) plan, and each of them
can enroll a different child under their coverage, but
both cannot enroll the same child.
Generally,
under your University of Michigan benefits plans, you cannot
cover:
-
Anyone who works for or is retired from the University
and has his or her own University coverage; or
-
Any dependents who are already covered by anyone who works for or is retired from the University.
-
Any dependent child who works for the University and is
eligible for University-sponsored benefits as an employee.
