Employed Graduate Assistants (GSIs, GSSAs and GSRAs) that
are enrolled in benefits during the winter term and will
be retuning to a benefit eligible Graduate Assistant appointment
the following fall term are eligible for University contributions
during the spring/summer terms. In addition, for GEO member only, if you were enrolled in benefits during the previous fall and the current winter terms and are not graduating, you are eligible for University contributions during the spring/summer terms. See GEO contract, page 23, Article XI: Benefits, and page 44, Memoranda of Understanding, IV Summer Benefits.
-
MAIS runs a query of all eligible Graduate Students enrolled
in benefits during the winter term. (File format: Microsoft
Excel 2000)
-
The Benefits Office segments the query into individual
department sections and sends each section file as an
email attachment to the Department Manager/Personnel Recipient.
-
The Department Manager/Personnel Recipient enters the
appropriate Continuation (Return) Code for each student
and returns their section file, via email, to the Benefits
Office. Please note:
-
GSAs should not be added to this list. If there are
students which you feel should be included on this list
and they do not appear, they should be sent to the Benefits
Office on a separate list.
-
New fellowship students should not be added to this
list but should be enrolled with M-CARE.
-
The Benefits Office compiles all returned sections and
sends to MAIS.
-
A process to determine the amount of additional deductions
is run in the M-Pathways HRMS system, and the file is
sent to the Benefits Office with additional deduction
amounts.
-
The Benefits Office verifies the additional deduction
amounts and approves loading the file into the M-Pathways
HRMS database.
-
MAIS loads the file prior to the April monthly payroll.
-
April payroll takes standard monthly deductions and additional
deductions.
