Long-Term
Disability (LTD) participants cannot add dependents to their
coverage at any time.
You can continue to cover dependents who are currently enrolled
on your medical insurance plan or you can delete them from
your coverage. If you delete dependents from your coverage,
you cannot re-enroll them.
Medical insurance,
prescription drug coverage, and/or dental coverage for your children can
continue through the end of the month in which they turn age 25 provided
they:
- are not
married;
- continue
to live primarily with you; and
- are claimed
as dependents on your income tax return.
Unmarried,
disabled children who turned age 19 or age 25 can continue to
be covered for both medical and dental insurance provided they:
- are not
married;
- became
disabled and were covered by a University medical insurance plan before
reaching age 19;
- are incapable
of self-sustaining employment by reason of mental retardation or physical
disability;
- are dependent
on you for support and maintenance; and
- apply
to continue coverage before the end of the month in which they
turn age 19 or age 25.
