| Two HMOs are available:
- Priority Health HMO
- Health Alliance Plan
HMOs usually
offer higher benefits and broader coverage than traditional
plans at a lower overall out-of-pocket cost. You usually
pay no deductible, and benefits are generally paid at 100%
after a small co-pay. Plus, you do not have to file claim
forms. However, you are limited to the HMOs network
of doctors and hospitals.
Some HMOs have
their own clinics with staff doctors, while others contract with doctors in private
practice. Each HMO has its own provider directory listing doctors, hospitals and
other facilities in the network. Contact the HMO directly to receive a current
provider directory.
The HMO Service
Areas chart below shows the Michigan counties in which each HMO operates. Be sure
to review this information before choosing an HMO to find one close to home.
Important
HMO participating providers are always subject to change.
Before you enroll in a new HMO, check the provider directory
to make sure it includes a doctor of your choice. Call the
HMO directly for a provider directory.
