Re-enrollment

Follow the instructions below if you were previously enrolled in the U-M Retirement Savings Plan, and wish to enroll again for these types of situations:

Rehired Faculty or Staff
You were previously enrolled in the Retirement Plan, terminated employment, and you have been rehired into a job title eligible to participate.

Newly Eligible Faculty or Staff
You were previously enrolled in the Retirement Plan, became ineligible due to a change in job titles, your enrollment in the plan was terminated, and you are now eligible again because of another job change.

You Canceled Your Enrollment
You were enrolled in the Retirement Plan and chose to cancel your enrollment.

Reduced Benefit Option
You do not contribute to the Plan and the University provides a reduced contribution of only 5% because you are a compulsory participant in the Retirement Plan.

Re-Enrollment Instructions

  1. Complete and submit a Salary or Annuity Option Plan Agreement to the Benefits Office. Use this form to authorize the payroll contribution, your choice of investment company (TIAA-CREF and/or Fidelity), and to indicate if you wish to make an additional, non-matching contribution to the plan.
  1. If you designate TIAA-CREF or Fidelity as your choice of investment carrier and you do not have an existing U-M account with that company, an account will be automatically created for you.  The investment fund will automatically be an age-appropriate Lifecycle Fund if you select TIAA-CREF or a Freedom Fund if you select Fidelity. You may change this by contacting TIAA-CREF or Fidelity.  You will also need to designate your beneficiary directly with the investment company.
