| Introduction |
There are currently
thirteen Athletic Training Rooms that service University
of Michigan student athletes. These include two main and
eleven satellite facilities. The main facilities are open
from 7:30 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday and on weekends
as needed for sport coverage. These facilities are used
to provide morning treatment and injury rehabilitation
to the student athletes. The main athletic training rooms
also house the offices of the certified athletic trainers on staff.
The satellite
facilities are used to provide athletic training services
to varsity teams during their scheduled practice times.
These athletic training rooms typically are open 45
minutes prior to practices and close when post-practice
treatments are completed. The satellite athletic training
rooms are also used during home events at their respected
facilities.

Schembechler
Hall
Located on the main level of Schembechler Hall, this
is UM's largest athletic training facility. It serves
as the main training room for football, men's basketball,
men's hockey, men's and women's golf, and wrestling. Morning treatments and
injury rehabilitations for these programs are performed here. In the afternoon
it's used for pre-practice treatments and taping, injury
rehabilitation, and post-practice treatments for the
football program. With
the aid of a Foot Tech orthotic system the staff athletic
trainers can construct custom fit orthotics which are
used to correct biomechanical abnormalities of the lower
extremity.
A medical suite
area includes offices of the team physicians, 3 private
exam rooms, a conference room, and a storage room for
medication and other medical supplies. |

Canham
Natatorium
The UM men's and women's swimming teams call Canham Natatorium
home. Located
between the IM Sports Building and the Canham Swimming
pool, the "Nat" houses offices of the certified athletic trainers for the
following sports: gymnastics, women's basketball,
volleyball, softball, baseball, soccer, field hockey,
men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's
track and field, and men's and women's tennis. |

Cliff
Keen Arena
The Cliff Keen Arena Athletic Training Room is used by
the women's volleyball and men's gymnastics programs.
It's used daily for pre- and post-practice treatments,
injury rehabilitation, and taping. Its equipment includes:
an ice machine, hydrocollator, whirlpool, a therapeutic
ultrasound unit, and a high volt muscle stimulation unit.
There are also assorted dumbbells, theraband/tubing, a
body blade, lower extremity range of motion and proprioceptive
training equipment, and a Swiss exercise ball available
for use in injury rehabilitation. Stationary bicycles,
a rowing machine, and a nordic track are also found here.
This facility is used by the women's gymnastics and wrestling
programs during home competitions.
This
athletic training room is maintained and operated by
a certified staff athletic trainer and 2-3 student athletic
trainers.

The
Coliseum
The Coliseum Athletic Training Room is the satellite
facility for the women's gymnastics program. This facility
is used to provide treatments and injury rehabilitation
during team practices.
This
athletic training room is equipped with an ice machine,
hydrocollator, small whirlpool, therapeutic ultrasound
unit, and a high volt muscle stimulation unit. Injury
rehabilitation equipment includes: 2 swiss exercises
balls, assorted theraband/dumbells, and lower extremity
range of motion and proprioceptive training devices.
Stationary bicycles and a treadmill are located outside
of the athletic training room.
The
Coliseum Athletic Training Room is maintained and operated
by a certified staff athletic trainer and 1-2 student
athletic trainers.

Crisler
Arena
The Crisler Arena Athletic Training Room handles
the wrestling and men's and women's basketball
programs.
This facility
is equipped with an ice machine, a hydrocollator,
a large whirlpool, and an electrotherapy/ultrasound
combination unit. Assorted theraband/dumbells,
cuff weights, medicine balls, and lower extremity
range of motion and proprioceptive training equipment
are available and used in injury rehabilitation.
In addition, there is a varsity weight training
facility located in which is also utilized for
injury rehabilitation.
This area
is maintained and operated by 2 certified staff
athletic trainers, 1 certified graduate assistant
athletic trainer, and 3-5 student athletic trainers.

Fisher
Stadium
The Fisher Stadium Athletic Training room is the satellite
facility for the men's baseball program. It handling
AT operations for both baseball practices and home contests.
This
athletic training room is equipped with an ice machine,
hydrocollator, a large whirlpool, a therapeutic ultrasound
unit, and a high volt muscle stimulation unit.
The
facility is maintained and operated by a certified staff
athletic trainer and a student athletic trainer.

Michigan
Stadium
This Athletic Training Room is used only on home football
game days. Pre- and post-game treatments, as well as pre-game
taping, are performed here.

Softball
Facility
The Softball Building is currently under construction.
When completed it will include an athletic training
room that will serve the women's softball program.
It will be equipped
with an ice machine, a whirlpool, a therapeutic ultrasound
unit, and an electrotherapy unit, and will be maintained
and operated by a certified staff athletic trainer and
1-2 student athletic trainers.

South
Ferry Building
The South Ferry Building opened in the summer of 1997.
The athletic training room in this building serves the
women's soccer and field hockey programs.
This facility
has separate treatment, hydrotherapy, rehabilitation,
and taping areas. The treatment area is equipped with
an electrotherapy unit, an ultrasound unit, and a hydrocollator.
A whirlpool and an ice machine are located in the hydrotherapy
room. The rehabilitation area consists of stationary
bikes, a stairmaster, Swiss exercise balls, a Back system
back stretcher, lower extremity range of motion and
proprioceptive training equipment, assorted therapeutic
tubing/theraband, and ankle weights.
The South Ferry
Building Athletic Training Room is maintained and operated
by 2 certified staff athletic trainers and 3-4 student
athletic trainers.

Varsity
Tennis Center
The Varsity Tennis Center opened in the fall of 1996.
This athletic training room serves the men's and women's
tennis programs, and is used daily for pre- and post-practice
treatments, injury rehabilitation, and taping.
Its equipment
includes: an ice machine, a hydrocollator, a large
whirlpool, assorted theraband and hand dumbbells,
as well as plyoballs, used in injury rehabilitation.
Treadmills, stairmasters, and bikes are located nearby
and are also used for injury rehabilitation.
The Varsity
Tennis Center Athletic Training Room is staffed by
2 student athletic trainers.

Yost
Ice Arena
The Yost Arena Athletic Training Room is used by the
men's ice hockey program for practices and home games.
This athletic
training room is equipped with an ice machine, a hydrocollator,
2 large full body whirlpools, a massage unit, a therapeutic
ultrasound unit, and an electrotherapy unit. Assorted
theraband and hand dumbells, as well as lower extremity
range of motion and proprioceptive training equipment
are available for use in injury rehabilitation. In addition,
there is a varsity weight training facility here, used
for injury rehabilitation.
This facility
is staffed by a certified staff athletic trainer and
a student athletic trainer.
