Description: Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi established the Islamic House of Wisdom in 1995. In 1996, the congregation was moved from its original Schaefer location to a larger mosque on Ann Arbor Trail in order to accommodate the growing membership. This new building originally housed two Christian organizations, the Fairlane Assembly Church and Detroit World Outreach.
The membership of the Islamic House of Wisdom is predominantly Lebanese, but other Arab and Iranian Shia are also involved. The mosque is devoted to its outreach and community service programs, and holds several community and interfaith events. Imam Elahi provides his lectures, sermons, and other programs entirely in English. He is quite active within the mainstream media, writing editorials and giving interviews, most of which are available on the center’s website at www.islamichouseofwisdom.com.
Mission
The Islamic House of Wisdom welcomes all members of the Muslim community, regardless of race, ethnicity, or nationality. The mosque is also committed to interacting with American media, interfaith organizations, and communities.
