University of Michigan Student Tournaments
"Tournament of Champions" Series
Each year in April, the Michigan Union Billiards Room hosts the University of Michigan Campus Tournament of Champions (TOC). University of Michigan students can qualify for the TOC through a series of regular tournaments starting in September. There are two tournaments every month from September through January. February and March each have three qualifying tournaments. The winners of the 16 qualifying tournaments win an invitation to the TOC and also receive $20 in Munchie Money. The season-ending TOC winner receives a substantial prize ($100 or more), a commemorative medal, and his/her name on the "University of Michigan Pool Champion" plaque on the wall in the Billiards & Games Room.

2011 Pool TOC Recap
Jim Christian won the University of Michigan Pool Tournament of Champions (TOC) on Saturday, April 16. An avid Billiards Club member since orientation before his freshman year, Jim is now the president of the Billiards Club and one of its most active members. For his campus victory in the TOC, Jim took home $100 in Munchie Money, a Michigan Wolverines pool cue case, a Michigan Billiards t-shirt, 1st-place medal, and his name on the "Campus Champions" plaque on the wall of the Billiards Room. Rounding out the top 4 were, not surprisingly, Jim's teammates from the UMTPC back in November (where they won the 9-ball Scotch Doubles title and finished 2nd in All-Around points). Congrats to all 16 students who qualified to play in the Tournament of Champions: Curtis, Jim, Fahad, Winstone, Hamza, Varun, Zane, Eliza, Paul, Sean, Mark, Sai, Ryan, Tsun Kit, Matt, Austin, and Henry. Nine of these students elected to participate in the TOC. |
