I am currently an Assistant Research Scientist in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Michigan. I currently work with Professor Alan J. Hunt, Professor Raoul Kopelman and Professor Roy Clarke. My main research interests are fabrication and application of magnetic microspheres and nanoparticles.

Updates:

October 23, 2008 - Finalist in the National Inventors Hall of Fame Collegiate Inventors Competition for "Rapid Detection and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing of Bacteria."

December 7, 2007 - physicsworld.com wrote an article, "Tiny Sphere Detects Bacteria", on research conducted in Professor Raoul Kopelman's Lab.

November 26, 2007 - The University of Michigan did a press release on the single bacterial cell detection paper.

November 26, 2007 - A paper that I authored - Single bacterial cell detection with nonlinear rotational frequency shifts of driven magnetic microspheres - has been published in the Applied Physics Letters. November 2007 - A paper that I coauthored called, "Shadows on the Walls: Geometrical interpretation of fractional integration" has been published on JOMA.

September, 2007 - Construction of a prototype for single cell detection and growth dynamics, based on my research, has been funded by a Michigan Universities Commercialization Initiative grant.

March 8, 2007 - My patent application, "Nonlinear rotation rate shifts of driven particles and uses thereof," was sent to the US patent and trademark office.

March 5, 2007 - I presented a talk at the American Physical Society Meeting in Denver called, "Dynamic Detection of a Single Bacterium: Nonliear Rotation of Driven Magnetic Microspheres".

January, 2007 - I have now officially completed the PhD program in applied physics and began my postdoctoral research with Professor Roy Clarke.

January, 2007 - My sensors and actuators paper is now available here.

June, 2006 - The Modulated physical and chemical sensors patent application is now available online.

June, 2006 - My latest paper is available online in the Journal of Physical Chemistry B.

December, 2005 - I received a travel award from the American Physical Society for the March 2006 meeting. I will be presenting a talk and a poster at the conference.
