Kathy Madison and Dean Carter won the Saturday evening session of the District 12 STACs at the Bridge Connection on Saturday, December 9.
Amy Huston and Brad Lehman were 3rd in B overall in the stratified open pairs at the Dearborn Regional on Tuesday, January 9.
Mark Leonard, Matt Klimesh, Deborah De Witt, and John Kokubo won their bracket of the Tuesday/Wednesday bracketed knockout teams at the Dearborn Regional on Wednesday, January 10.
Ray Gentz and Brad Lehman were 2nd in B overall in the stratified open pairs at the Dearborn Regional on Friday, January 10.
Jon Atkins and Greg Martin were 2nd in C overall in the stratified open pairs at the Dearborn Regional on Friday, January 10.
Deborah DeWitt, Stuart Collis, Ed Herstein, and Debbie Waugh won the midnight knockouts at the Dearborn Regional on Friday, January 12.
Leon Fisher, Matt Klimesh, Amy Huston, and Mark Leonard won the second bracket of the morning knockout teams at the Dearborn Regional on Saturday, January 13.
Amy Huston and Debbie Waugh were 6th in C overall in the stratiflighted open pairs at the Dearborn Regional on Saturday, January 13.
Han Wang, Lei Gu, Jie Chou, and Yiqun Jin won the stratified B/C swiss teams at the Dearborn Regional on Sunday, January 14.
Brad Lehman and Kevin Miller were first in B overall in the stratified pairs at the Southfield Sectional on Saturday, February 10.
Deborah DeWitt and Matt Klimesh were second in A and first in B in stratified open pairs at the Toledo sectional on Saturday, March 9.
Kevin Podsiadlik, Norm Bash, Kevin Mayville, and Paul Predhomme were first in B in the single-session stratified swiss teams at the Oak Park sectional on Saturday, March 16.
Jim O'Neil, Pinbo Zhou, Ed Herstein, and John Starkweather were 2nd in A in the stratiflighted swiss teams at the Oak Park sectional on Sunday, March 17.
Deborah DeWitt, Amy Huston, John Kokubo and Don McCullough were 3rd in B in the stratiflighted swiss teams at the Oak Park sectional on Sunday, March 17.
Other noteworthy achievements
- Ed Herstein and Leon Fisher were elected to the MBA Board of Directors.
- John Kokubo not only won the rookie category of the nation-wide ACBL 1995 Mini-McKenney Contest, he set the all-time record for masterpoints earned by a rookie in a single calendar year with 457 points in 1995 (you can read more about this in one of the cover stories of the March 1996 Bulletin, p. 56).
