Novices are encouraged to come and play in the regular open game any time. Also, any four players who would like the opportunity to compare their results with others without actually playing directly against others or being required to play a complete session are encouraged to come and form an appendix table.
Free lessons are periodically available.
Casual bridge is a relatively new event here (started around April 1997) targeted for beginners.We try to run a sanctioned novice game (in addition to the regular game) a few times a year. Only players with less than 20 masterpoints are eligible to play in the novice games. Novice games are generally held concurrently with the regular games, that is, at 7:30 pm on Fridays, in the Tap Room in the basement of the Michigan Union; entry fees are $1 for students and $2 for non-students.
