North American Pairs Competition

General Information

The annual North American Pairs Contest takes place in four stages: the club level qualifying stage each summer, the Unit finals in the fall, the District finals late in the year, and the National finals the following spring. The top two pairs in each flight in each district win a trip to Spring Nationals to represent their district at the National level. The 1999 Spring Nationals will be in Vancouver, BC, March 18-28.

Eligibility

Anyone may play in club level qualifying games. To qualify for a unit final game, you must play in a club level game and place in the top half of the pairs in your flight or have at least a 50% game.

The top half of the field in each flight in the unit final game qualifies to compete in the district final game, and the top three pairs in each flight in the district final qualify to compete at the national level (the top two pairs in each flight win a trip to the Spring Nationals; the third pair is eligible but not subsidized).

Stratifications

For purposes of this year's contest, points recorded before or with the June 1998 bulletin count.
