Welcome
to the Fierke Research Group webpage. We research protein and
RNA molecules under the guidance of Prof. Carol A. Fierke. Most
projects are focused on understanding the chemical mechanism and
structure-function relationships of important biological molecules, as well
as studying the biochemistry of transitional metal ions such as zinc.
Current areas of active investigation include zinc enzymes, ribozymes, cellular
imaging, biosensors and protein engineering.
Our lab is located on the 4th floor of the Dow
Chemistry building, over-looking the Central Campus Diag of the University
of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Burton Tower is the
centerpiece of the University of Michigan's central campus. Located
across the street from the Chemistry building, students enjoy the melodious
chimes from one of the world's largest musical instruments.
