Post Doctoral Fellowship
Learning Supports

Post-Doc Seminar

This seminar will meet weekly during the fall and winter terms, and monthly during the spring/summer terms. Various topics will be addressed including:

  • Approaches to clinical issues and brief therapy
  • Professional development such as current topics in professional psychology and job search/career issues
  • Supervision of supervision (doctoral practicum students) Fall term only.
  • Attendance and follow-up discussion regarding selected professional development opportunties.

Post-Doc Specialization

Post-Docs will allocate an average of 4-6 hours per week to the pursuit of their area of specialization. The specialization is co-created by each Post-Doc and various staff members. Previous Post-Docs have specialized in clinical research, eating disorders, administration (training, clinical or outreach), and clinical services for students with Asperger’s or with anxiety disorders. Staff with specific skills, interests and experiences in the area of specialization chosen by the Post-Doc will be identified as ongoing mentors/support for the Post-Doc. As with all mentoring relationships, this may take a variety of forms. This specialization time may also include study for licensure and other professional development activities.

Supervision

Two hours per week of individual supervision are provided throughout the year, with opportunities for adjunct supervision as needed. Post-Doc's have input into the supervision match process.  Supervisors generally change each term.

Post-Docs provide individual clinical supervision to doctoral-level practicum students during Fall term. Post-Docs may also supervise intern group co-facilitators, depending on interest, agency need and staff resources.
