Thank you for a great 2008 conference. Save the date February 27, 2009 for the 27th Annual Career Conference!

The Women of Color Task Force will host its 26th annual career conference on Friday, February 29 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The 26th Annual Career Conference theme is “Work, Lead & Succeed in a Global Economy” and will focus on preparing and positioning conference attendees to think about their contributions to the state’s economy from a national and global perspective.

Registration for this event is open to all UM personnel and to the general public. Early registration will open on January 14, 2008 and close on February 18, 2008. However, you may register the morning of the conference at the Michigan League but there will be an additional administrative charge ($15.00) for onsite registration and lunch will not be available for onsite registrants. (There is a restaurant in the League that does serve lunch.)

2008 Keynote Speaker

Dr. Kenya AyersDr. Kenya Ayers served as Vice Provost and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kettering University from 2002 to January 2008. She is currently the executive director of Esperanza Communications, and the founder of The Choice Network a consulting firm designed to empower women toward the completion of doctoral degree programs.

Dr. Ayers received an undergraduate degree in psychology from The University of Michigan and went on to complete a masters degree in clinical psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She then pursued doctoral studies in adult education and earned a Doctorate of Education from the University of Houston in Educational Administration and Supervision in Higher Education. Her research explored, Identifying Factors of Non-Traditional Female Student Attrition in an Urban Environment. Dr. Ayers has also completed post-doctoral professional development through the American Council on Education's National Leadership Forum and Harvard University's Institute for Management and Leadership in Education (MLE).

Dr. Ayers is co-author of Hitching a Ride to Success: A Roadmap for Collegiate Travelers (1996, Simon and Schuster). She wrote To Whom Much is Given: The Definitive Guide to the Doctoral Process for Women, which was released June 2006.

Payments may be made by shortcode, credit card, cash, check, or money order. Please note that UM P-Cards may not be used to pay for registration fees. Early registration ends on February 18th, 2008.

Onsite Registration (February 29, 2008)

You may register onsite the day of the conference in the Michigan League, on the Concourse Level. Onsite registration will begin at 7:00 am. A $15.00 administrative charge will be added to the registration fee. Payments may be made by credit card, cash, check, or money order only. (UM P-Cards may not be used to pay for registration fees.). Please download the registration form, fill it out and bring it with you to the Concourse Level of the Michigan League on the morning of the conference.

UM Staff, Faculty, Retirees and Alumni/ae: $75.00
Non-UM registrants excluding students: $85.00

Cancellations

Cancellations received by phone, fax or email prior to February 20 are entitled to a refund. Cancellations after February 20 will be refunded less a $50 handling charge. Those who do not appear at the conference, thereby canceling by default, are ineligible to receive a refund.
