When is CEW open?
The Center is open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. During the academic year (September through June), the Center is open Mondays until 7:00 pm.
Where are you located?
CEW is located at 330 E. Liberty Street between Fifth Street and Division. If you are coming by car, you might want to park in the surface lot across from the public library and accessible from Williams Street. There is also metered offstreet parking on the street surrounding the Center
Parking at CEW
The Library lot, the closest public parking lot located near the Center, is closed for the next two years. Another convenient location is a surface lot directly west of the Ann Arbor Public Library. Rates are approximately $2.00 per hour. There is off-street parking near the Center and several parking garages in the Downtown area. Check this parking in Ann Arbor website for local parking garages and space available updated throughout the day.
Directions to CEW
A. From I-94, take either the State Street or Ann Arbor-Saline Rd. exit.
If the State Street exit is taken, follow State Street north, past the Michigan Union. Turn left onto Liberty Street. CEW is located at 330 E. Liberty, between Division and Fifth Streets.
B. From M-14 West, take the Ann Arbor Downtown exit (number 3).
Continue on and the road becomes Main Street. Turn left at Liberty. Go two blocks to Fifth Street where you turn right. Get immediately into the far left-hand lane. The public parking lot is immediately on the left. CEW is located at 330 E. Liberty, between Fifth and Division Streets.
Can I use CEW services if I am a man, or if I am not affiliated with the University of Michigan, or if my partner works at UM, but I don’t, or if I am in school elsewhere.
Yes. Our counseling program, library, workshops and events are open to all.
How do I see a counselor?
Counselors are available by appointment. Appointments generally last between 45 and 60 minutes. To schedule an appointment, call 734.764.6360. Read more about our counseling services.
I don’t live in Ann Arbor, are there any other options?
Yes, you can make a telephone appointment, wherein you call the Center at your scheduled time and speak with a counselor over the telephone.
Do the counselors specialize in any specific fields?
No – our counselors have degrees in social work, or guidance and counseling, or clinical psychology and are trained in life-planning issues. They are all equally resourceful and have been in the field for many years.
I was wondering if you could tell me more about the CEW scholarships?
Scholarships are for women and men pursuing a UM degree who have had a break of at least four years in their education enrolled in or planning to attend any UM campus the following year. The application becomes available the first week of October and is due the first week of January (specific dates vary according to year). The winners are announced in April. How does CEW define a non-traditional student?
Non-traditional undergraduates are either 2 years older than regular sequence students, and/or a parent.
