CIBE collaborates with a variety of public agencies and private organizations engaged in promoting and supporting commercial export activities. By leveraging its intellectual capital and financial resources, CIBE is able to promote better understanding of international commerce, examine important cross-border trade issues and advise decision makers on key policy decisions. CIBE supports the following strategic partners in several ways. |
U.S. Export Assistance Centers provide small and medium-size firms with local export assistance. CIBE funds summer internships for students who conduct research projects designed to help regional and local companies enter foreign markets and establish exporting businesses. In Michigan, Assistance Centers are located in major metropolitan areas, including Detroit, Pontiac, Ypsilanti and Grand Rapids. Interested firms can contact the Small Business Administration's Office of International Trade directly. |
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) serves as a one-stop resource for businesses seeking to grow in Michigan through expansion or relocation. MEDC also provides support to Michigan Technical Assistance Centers (MTAC), a network of 12 local offices that offer export counseling and market-planning assistance to companies seeking to establish international trade. CIBE contributes to these efforts by funding research on new export opportunities for Michigan businesses and by participating as a member of MEDC's private-sector board of directors. |
