No one can underestimate the importance of language competency in the context of global business. To improve America's competitiveness in the global marketplace, language instruction must become a priority, particularly at the college level. Proficiency in foreign languages is not only essential for those seeking careers in international business, but it also enriches American culture and quality of life. |
Achieving a high level of proficiency, however, requires both comprehensive course materials and talented instructors. To support that effort, CIBE awards grants for the development of new business-content language course materials. |
If you are a member of the University of Michigan faculty, you can apply to CIBE for funding to develop new course materials or workshops in any language area. Coursework must have a practical rather than literary focus and be relevant to international business. Awards ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 are given to faculty on a case-by-case basis.
