As a Ross student, you have the unique opportunity to expand your international community by becoming a CIBER Ambassador (CA). Each semester the Center for International Business Education & Research hosts exchange students from all over the world. These students are often concerned about making friends and adjusting to life at the University. As a CIBER Ambassador, you can help incoming international students feel included in the Ross community, while developing international perspectives, learning about another culture, and gaining valuable interpersonal skills that can be marketed on your resume. Moreover, this is a great way to make new friends, potential business contacts, use your foreign language ability, and practice skills needed to work in the globally interdependent world in which we live.

CIBER Ambassadors will be
matched with incoming students. CAs will be asked to get to know their exchange student partners via e-mail before they arrive in Ann Arbor in order to make them feel welcomed to the university. Duties would include: offering advice on housing, Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan; greeting students when they arrive; assisting with their initial needs such as shopping for groceries, books, etc.; helping them meet other U-M students; taking the time to get to know a little about each other's culture, home country, home school; and participating in some welcome events.

Students may be an active CIBER Ambassador for just one semester or for an entire academic year (in which case the CA will host two exchange students, one per semester). There are not any academic requirements to be a CIBER Ambassador. You simply have to be willing to make a good effort and reach out to international students from different cultures.
