Fulbright-Ross Negotiation Course in Eastern Europe

A popular Ross elective, LHC 311, Negotiation and Dispute Resolution, will be offered next summer in Bulgaria.  This admissions-based course is co-sponsored by the prestigious Fulbright Commission.  The tentative dates are August 18-24, 2013.

The 3-credit course in Eastern Europe provides a unique opportunity to negotiate with students from the Balkan region and beyond.  In past years these students were from a variety of countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Albania, Ukraine, Italy, Lebanon, Pakistan, Brazil, South Africa, Belarus, Croatia, etc.

The Fulbright Commission schedules other activities during the course, such as visits to cultural and historical sites and meetings with company and political leaders.

Located in the heart of the Balkans, Bulgaria has a fascinating history that includes a long period under Ottoman rule, 45 years of domination by the Communist Party, and a transition to capitalism that began in 1989.

After the course ends, you are free to travel on your own.  For example, you might want to visit the Black Sea or countries bordering Bulgaria, such as Romania, Macedonia, Turkey, Serbia or Greece.  Other European countries are easily accessible.

To apply for admission, please send a brief statement (250 words or less) explaining why you are interested in the course to Virginia Balan at vbalan@umich.edu.  Because enrollment is limited, you should apply as soon as possible.
