Doctoral Workshops

You can't learn very much in a vacuum. That's why CIBE participates in two consortia devoted to developing international-business knowledge and expertise among doctoral students in the United States.

If you are in your pre-candidacy stage, you are eligible to attend an annual workshop designed specifically to introduce basic international-business concepts and theory. The introductory workshop is presented by the CIBER (Center for International Business Education and Research) network of schools, which include the Ross School of Business. CIBE pays the travel expenses of Michigan students who attend workshops held by other members of the consortium.

If you are in your post-candidacy stage, you have an opportunity to attend the Consortium for Doctoral Studies in International Business, a series of specialized workshops in different areas of interest hosted by peer schools around the country. The CIBER Schools at Wharton, Duke, UCLA, UT-Austin, the University of Washington and Purdue jointly sponsor these discipline-based workshops, which help doctoral students develop skills for conducting international-business research. Each of the member schools, including the Ross School, offers a workshop in its respective specialty area, such as marketing, finance, strategy, etc. CIBE funds all travel and living expenses of doctoral students who attend these three-day workshops.

Here's how to apply: Announcements for upcoming workshops are emailed to all doctoral students. To attend Contact the CIBE.
