UM Arabic Flagship Program
Competitive funding for advanced Arabic language and area studies, with a required overseas component.

Critical Language Scholarship
A program of United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program will offer intensive summer language institutes overseas in thirteen critical need foreign languages for summer 2010 for U.S. citizen undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students.

Foreign Language Area Studies Felllowship (FLAS)
Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship provides tuition and a stipend to students studying designated foreign languages in combination with area studies or international aspects of professional studies. The priority is to encourage the study of less commonly taught languages. FLAS Fellowships are administered by the University of Michigan Area Studies Centers and are awarded competitively through annual fellowship competitions.

Kathryn Davis Fellowship for Middlebury Language Schools
Full Scholarships for Intensive Language Study at the Middlebury College Summer Language Schools (located in Vermont) in: Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Portuguese and Russian.

Blakemore Freeman Language Fellowship (Asian Languages) Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are awarded for one year of advanced level language study in East or Southeast Asia in approved language programs.
