Retro-Active Credits
It is possible for LS&A students to earn up to a maximum of 8 retroactive credits for prior academic work completed in Latin. To earn these credits students must successfully (with a grade of B or better, not a B-) complete an upper-level course into which they were placed (by means of a placement test). A student who has placed out of the language requirement can earn 8 retroactive credits by receiving a grade of B or better in Latin 301 or a higher course. A student who needs only one more course to fulfill the language requirement, either Latin 232 or Latin 231, can earn 4 retroactive credits by completing this course with a grade of B or better. The course taken to earn retro-credits must be the first college course in the foreign language. Although there is no time limit on retro-credit, we strongly recommend that students complete coursework and apply for retro-credits within their first year of enrollment in LS&A. The Pass/Fail option disqualifies students from receiving the retroactive credit. |
