The Wolverines clinched the Great Lakes North Conference Championship November 14, against Central Michigan University in three games. Michigan gets a bid the The World Series of Club Softball in April 2011 for a chance to win a national title! Congratulations Wolverines!! Michigan will continue game-play in the spring.
The Wolverines battled #2 in the conference Grand Valley State University last Sunday and took one of three games from the Lady Lakers, bringing their conference record to 9-3 (11-5 overall). The first game concluded in a disappointing 17-6 loss, with the game tied at 6 after five innings. A combination of errors and base hits for the Lakers and poor offense by the Wolverines led to an 11-run domination in the final two innings. The second game went more the way of the Wolverines, taking the win with a score of 10-6. With the power-hitting of Lyndsay Berger (3-Run Homerun) and others combining for 15 hits, Michigan's defense came through in the final inninf to stop the Laker offense for the win. In the concluding game the Lakers and Wolverines defensively battled for the first few innings, scoring 1 each. The Lakers then jumped to a commanding 6-1 lead in the fifth, sparked by errors from the Michigan defense. Despite scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the game 6-4, the Wolverines came up short in the seventh. The Wolverines conclude their fall season and conference play Sunday, traveling to Mt. Pleasant to take on the Lady Chips for a highly anticipated rematch.
