Meet the Res Staff

Emma and Lauren

Assistant Resident Director (ARD): Emma Lawton

I am currently a senior in LSA, double-majoring in History and French.  This will be my fourth year at Martha Cook, and I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you! I encourage you to join me at meals, tea, any time you see me around the building or come by and visit me in my room.  I hope to get to know all of the residents this year, and I am looking forward to a strong community of intelligent women.  As ARD, I am always available to talk about any questions, concerns, or thoughts you may be having about the well-being of our community.  I will be working with Lauren, our MCPA, Carolyn, the ARA, and all of Houseboard to make this a special year for everyone.

Carolyn Crary

Assistant RA (ARA): Carolyn Crary

I am currently a fifth year senior dual majoring in vocal music education and history. This will be my fifth year living in the beautiful Martha Cook Building. I am from Midland, Michigan and am very close to my family. I am a perfectionist and spend most of my time studying or practicing my music. However, when I am not working, I love to hang out with my friends, watch movies, go shopping, and read for fun. As your ARA, it is my job to make sure that our building is safe and secure. I also work in dinning as a head-waitress. Please feel free to stop me for a chat at any time.

Multicultural Peer Advisor (MCPA): Lauren Seale

I’m a senior concentrating in African and Afro-American Studies and I’m also pre-med. I’m from a small town near Flint, Michigan called Mt. Morris, which is about an hour north of Ann Arbor. If you have any questions about being pre-med, and especially being pre-med and not majoring in a science, let me know! I spend a lot of my time studying, but when I’m not, I enjoy going out to dinner with my friends, reading, and watching movies with Sidney Poitier. As your MCPA, I’ll be planning really cool events that explore our unique social identities, such as our racial or ethnic background, religion, or gender. Let me know if you’d like to get involved with planning for these events.
