- Where did you get the name 58 GREENE?
58 GREENE,
located in the basement of East Quad at the University of
Michigan, is the original practice room that the group began
in oh so long ago. The founding GREENIES
felt that all the experiences and intangibles that made up
their newly formed group could best be summarized in that
name - the place where it all began!
- What is Corundum? What does the turtle mean?
"Corundum is the second
hardest natural mineral known to science. The hardness of
corundum can be partially attributed to the strong and short
oxygen-aluminum bonds. These bonds pull the oxygen and
aluminum atoms close together, making the crystal not only
hard but also quite dense for a mineral made up of two
relatively light elements."
Corundum
serves as a metaphor for what the Greenies stand for:
individually we are simple, but together, through our love
of music and friendship as our bond, we are incredibly
strong. Today, and since the founding of the group,
the embodiment of Corundum is recognized as our mascot,
Corundum the Turtle.
