The CSCAR Guide to Renewing
SAS Software V9.1 for Windows
To renew SAS V9.1, you should have received a .txt
file from ITCS or
whomever handles your SAS software distribution of the
form
sas91_XXXXXX.txt
This file contains the updated licensing information
for SAS V9.1.
Download this file, and save it on your machine in a
directory that you
can remember. Then, follow these steps:
1. Click on the Start Menu
2. Select All Programs
3. Select SAS
4. Select SAS 9.1 Utilities
5. Select Renew SAS Software
6. When the renewal window opens, Step 1 asks you to
browse to the
location of your "SAS Installation Data File". This is
where you saved the
.txt file containing the licensing info. Click on the
Browse button and
find the file where you saved it.
7. Click on OK to verify the "SAS Installation Data."
8. Step 2 verifies that you are from the University of
Michigan. Click on
Next.
9. Step 3 asks for the directory where SAS is
installed. Change this
directory if necessary, but the default directory
should be
C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1
10. Click on Renew, and you're all done until next
year!
Do NOT try to run the .txt file in SAS. This will not
work.
If you have questions that are not answered above,
please email
sas.help@umich.edu,
and specify the step in the process that is not
working.
