Renewal
Instructions:
1.
After installing SPSS 16, you should be able to select
(from the Start menu):
All Programs -> SPSS
Inc -> SPSS 16.0 -> License Authorization Wizard.
For SPSS 14 and SPSS 15,
All Programs -> SPSS for
Windows -> License Authorization Wizard.
2.
Given a renewal code for SPSS 14,
15, or 16, you can then use this Wizard to enter the updated
authorization code, and receive the updated license.
Every
year, the U of M license for the SPSS software will
expire on July 1, and users
will see the following error message after July 1:
"Your license renewal date has passed. SPSS for
Windows will stop working if a new
license is not installed soon. If you don't want to
see this message again, run
expoff.bat in the SPSS directory."
This does not mean that SPSS is no longer working. All
it means is that as soon as the
set of SPSS license codes for the next year becomes
available, you will need to enter
them into the License Authorization Wizard as
described above. SPSS Users have a 60-day grace period
allowing them to obtain the new license codes, and
unless that expoff.bat file is run, this message will
appear every time that SPSS is started.
ITCS at U of M has a policy where any license codes
ordered after May 1 are free of
charge, since the codes will expire on July 1. After
that, you should check with CSCAR to see when the new
codes will be available, which will need to be paid
for (for the
upcoming year).
