Geocoding Workshop
|
November 18, 2003
Josef Kellndorfer
The Geocoding workshop will cover theory and praxis of generating spatially consistent GIS layers from various data sources.
- How can I make sure my GPS measurements overlay correctly with my base map layers?
- I have street addresses. How do I get geographic latitude/longitude coordinates?
- How do I correctly convert lat/lon coordinates to UTM, State Plane, etc.?
- What are ellipsoids, data, and map projections anyway?
- How can I geocode my airphoto or satellite image, and merge it with my GIS?
- How do I convert digitized and scanned data to geocoded data sets?
Theory:
- Introduction to spatial (geographic) coordinate systems
Praxis:
- Address matching with ESRI ArcGIS
- Vector data geocoding with ESRI ArcGIS
- Raster data geocoding with PCIGeomatics OrthoEngine
ESRI and PCI Products are site licensed for free use at the University of Michigan.
