In the mid-1990s, the cigarette industry's long-overdue scrutiny was heightened when the accusations that the Joe Camel marketing campaign was specifically targeting children. There have been a series of coordinated "theme days" that newspaper strip and editorial cartoonists have done over the years (I really like that sort of solidarity). Here are a couple of strips I bought from the anti-Joe Camel campaign.

 

I like Borgman anyhow, and this was such a clean (and ever so cool) composition that I could not resist.

 

This one is a classic example of the genre. Lots and lots of action, at least three barbs to ponder, tons of visual allegory.
