Let's put a deadline on setting the rep.
1. let's contact the soloists and get their confirmed commitment and
availability by June 10.  Then let's set the program by June 15.  Then
let's find available venues and book them by July 1.

then we will design a season brochure and set up the website by July 15.
then we will start promoting our season from July 15 on.

I know it is low on early music rep.  Please suggest pieces.
And let's make a rule, if you don't like a suggestion, you must come up
with an alternate suggestion to replace it.

I am looking forward to hearing ideas, not only of repertoire but possible
venues we could get for less money than saunders and Jordan, that are
still high profile but yet affordable.  Also soloist suggestions are
welcome.

Subject: Britten concert
Hi Chris-

Thanks for calling me about the Britten.  I have been wanting to learn
it, and this is the perfect opportunity.  I'm glad that we'll finally
have a chance to work together as well.

I have literally nothing planned in all of November and most of
December.  I will be gone for much of January, but Feb and March are all
open as well.  I am doing some auditions and will have a church job, but
that can be worked around.  Let me know what you're thinking.  Talk to
you soon,

David

2002-2003 Soloist Bios

ERIC RUSKE, HORN

At the age of 34, French hornist Eric Ruske has already won international
acclaim. Named Associate Principal horn of the Cleveland Orchestra at the
age of 20, his impressive solo career began when he won the 1986 Young
Artists International auditions at 22 years of age. In 1987, Mr. Ruske
claimed first prize in the American Horn Competition, and in 1988 he was
awarded the highest prize in the Concours International d'Interpretation
Musicale in Reims, France.

Young Concert Artists presented Mr. Ruske's New York concert debut at the
92nd Street Y in 1987 and his Kennedy Center debut in 1988. Extensive
tours of the U.S. in recitals, chamber music and as concerto soloist
followed quickly. After a ten-day residency at the Pabst Theatre in
Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Journal wrote: "Ruske was masterful...In ten
years, maybe five, people will be calling Eric Ruske the world's greatest
hornist."

Eric Ruske gave the 1990 World Premiere of Gunther Schuller's Concerto
for Horn and Orchestra with the San Antonio Symphony with Mr. Schuller
conducting. He has performed with major symphony orchestras including the
Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, the Milwaukee Symphony and the
Orchestre National de Chambre de Toulouse. His recitals have been heard
in such venues as the Evian Festival in France, Ruth Eckerd Hall, Hancher
Auditorium in Iowa City, the Krannert Center in Urbana, Illinois,
Stanford University, the Da Camera Society of Houston and the Newport
Festival. The artist has given concerts at the Louvre in Paris and in the
1993/94 season appeared with the Israel Chamber Orchestra in Tel Aviv.
Recent performances have included an appearance on the prestigious Barge
Music Series in New York, the Springfield Symphony, the Elgin Symphony
Orchestra and the Vilnius Chamber Orchestra.

In the 1996/97 season, Mr. Ruske's performances included an appearance as
soloist with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Ohio Chamber Orchestra,
Cape Code Symphony Orchestra, the La Jolla Chamber Music Society, the
his recital appearances with performances in Trieste, Italy and a tour of
Japan.

Mr. Ruske's 1997/98 performances will include the Pro Arte Chamber
Orchestra, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indian Hill Symphony and
the Naples Philharmonic, to name a few.

Mr. Ruske's solo compact disk entitled "The Romantic Horn" was released
by Music Masters and his recording of Mozart's complete concerti for horn
and orchestra with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra are available on the
Telarc record label.

A native of LaGrange, Illinois, Mr. Ruske has been the recipient of
grants from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and the
International Institute of Education. Mr. Ruske currently serves on the
faculty of Boston University Tanglewood Institute and Boston University.
