Michigan A Cappella

Michigan A Cappella Council

58 Greene is a coed multicultural group of friends dedicated to spreading the love of music with a fun and distinctive style. Since 1993, the “Greenies” have expressed their diverse personalities and voices through songs from all genres. Performing in a wide range of venues, audiences understand their eclectic groove once they’ve moved with the beat…so move.

The G-Men are the premier all male-acappella ensemble at the University of Michigan. Their main objective: to entertain the world through unrivaled singing, dancing (or the attempt), and making fools of themselves for the sake of comedy."

Amazin' Blue is proud to be the oldest co-ed a cappella group on campus. Generally between 12 and 15 members, the group performs many concerts around Ann Arbor while also competing nationally with live shows and studio recordings.  Amazin' Blue is a member committee of the University Activities Center.

Good News is an interdenominational, multi-ethnic Christian a cappella group. They've been on the a cappella scene at U-M since 1995 and we enjoy sharing our love of Christ through performance music ministry. Good News' repertoire spans from traditional choral arrangements and hymns to upbeat contemporary Christian pop.

The Compulsive Lyres were originally formed in 1997 as the official Greek A Cappella Group. However in 2001, after several years of affiliation with the U-M Greek System, the Lyres went out on their own. In 2002, the Lyres were named the International Champions of Collegiate A Cappella beating out all other universities in the country that competed at New York City's Lincoln Center.

The Harmonettes began in 1979 as a subset of the Women's Glee Club, becoming U of M's first all-female a cappella group.  Since its split from the Glee Club, the group has been developing into a brand new sound, featuring songs ranging from the Beatles to Madonna to John Mayer, while also adopting its new slogan "it's more than just singing..."

The Dicks and Janes, founded in 1998, the group has been dedicated to musical excellence and strong bonds of friendship. They perform everything from top 40 material to vocal jazz, and have been all over the country, from Los Angeles to Boston . Their songs have been selected for the Best of College A Cappella compilation CDs in 2002 and 2003!

University of Michigan's Jewish a cappella group!

Since 1955, named for a prestigious U of M drinking society, this crack squad of super crooners has been bringing mirth and music to all mankind. Armed only with their eight golden pipes and a marked propensity towards verve and vivacity, they ride through time, laughing, singing, drinking. They're seeking only to spread their sweet melodies unto the four corners of the earth and preserve the cherished and time-honored tradition of... The Friars.

Kopitonez is the University of Michigan's only Asian a cappella group. By performing in a wide range of languages including English, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Singaporean, Kopitonez aims to promote cultural awareness. This multicultural coed a cappella group takes pride in singing music ranging all languages and genres and lets their great friendships shine through in their music!

Gimble, since 1996, has evolved into a rockin' co-ed a cappella group that would rather be singing than doing anything else in the world. At a current 18 members strong, they''re a huge pile of a cappella fun, singing a wide variety of music. Their set list ranges from current pop to the ?80's, from madrigals to R&B, from oldies to Broadway.

The Sopranos are an all-female a cappella ensemble with an emphasis on creativity.  They perform throughout the semester at concerts and events.  In between performances, they have a great time hanging out together and exploring different music genres.
