Delta Epsilon Iota was established for the purpose of identifying and encouraging undergraduate scholars whose Dedication, Enthusiasm, and Initiative distinguish them as models of achievement, leadership, and service. Committed to the advancement of its members, the Society promotes lifetime career development skills, supports student-initiated chapter development, and reserves portions of organizational revenue for scholarship awards.

Involvement in the local chapter is one of the most important aspects of membership in Delta Epsilon Iota. Although chapter participation is not a requirement of national membership, meetings, programs, and special events provide a forum for leadership, involvement in the community, and valuable insight into career issues. Active chapter members benefit from thieir heightened awareness of campus career services, leadership opportunities in designing career-oriented programs, and from the experience of coordinating career goals, academic achievements, and community involvement.
