Jack entered U of m in the fall of 1928 and played hockey and baseball for three years. He played goal for the hockey team and played every minute of every game during his three year career. He had five shutouts during the 1929-30 season. He was elected captain for his senior year, 1931-1932, and was also elected to the All-American team the same year. Michigan won the Western Conference Championship during his sophomore and junior years.
 

Jack was the first player to be name captain of two different varsity sports (baseball and hockey) during the same year (1931-1932).
