| Gil hails from Windsor, having played for the Windsor Spitfires before enrolling at the University of Michigan. Playing left wing for three years, 1949-50 to 1951-52, under Coach Vic Heyliger, Gil was always a high goal scorer each year. As captain his senior year in 1951, his proudest moment was winning the NCAA championship at Colorado Springs. Gil was an All American selection in 1951 and graduated from the School of Business Administration. | |
