Originally from Nelson, BC, Bob played for the Trail Smoke Eaters in Trail, BC, and the Universal Meteors in Calgary, Alberta, prior to his arrival at the University of Michigan in the fall of 1953. Bob played defense for Coach Vic Heyliger from 1954 -1955 through 1956 - 1957. Bob was selected team Captain his senior year and led the team to an 18-5-2 record and a runner-up finish in the NCAA Tournament.
   
He was also a member of Michigan's 1955 and 1956 NCAA Championship teams. During his career, Michigan won 56 games, lost only 12 and tied 4. His most memorable experience at Michigan is playing three consecutive years in the NCAA Tournament, winning two and finishing as the runner-up once. After graduation, Bob returned to the Calgary area to pursue a career in the oil industry.
