Mark earned four varsity letters at U of M and played under coach Dan Farrell. Mark was the first winner of the Doc Losh Trophy as Michigan's leading scorer in the 1978-1979 season, collecting 23 goals and 26 assists. He played in all 36 games as a senior and had a pair of game-winning goals against Wisconsin and Denver.
 
Mark was the winner of the Hal Downes Trophy as Michigan's Most Valuable Player in 1978-1979 and received the Alton D. Simms Trophy as Michigan's Most Improved Player in 1977-1978. Mark played in a total of 147 games for the Wolverines and had 57 goals and 64 assists. He was drafted by the New York Rangers of the NHL and the Edmonton Oilers (WHA) following his sophomore year.
