| Rob Palmer, a native of Don Mills, Ontario, played defense for four years, 1974 - 1977, leading Michigan to the NCAA finals in his senior year. Playing for coach Dan Farrell, Rob was the all-time leading scoring defenseman at Michigan with 98 points, 18 goals and 80 assists. Rob also holds the career games played and consecutive games played at 163. An excellent student at Michigan, Rob was named the winner of the Carl Isaacson Award as the top student athlete twice, in both his sophomore and senior years. | |
| A 5th round draft choice of the Los Angeles Kings in 1976, Rob played six seasons in the NHL with Los Angeles and New Jersey. He closed out his pro career in 1986 playing 73 games for Maine in the AHL. Rob earned the unsung hero award with the L.A. Kings in 1979 and had the top plus/minus percentage among defensemen in the NHL. Rob played 320 career games as a pro, scoring nine goals and 101 assists. He only had 53 penalties as a pro. Rob was also the Emery Edge award winner and the top plus/minus player with the New Jersey Devils in 1983 and was a member of the Calder Cup championship team in the AHL with Maine in 1984. He earned his BBA degree in 1977. Rob returned to Michigan for his MBA during which time Rob was a Graduate Assistant Coach for Red Berenson. | |
